New ‘bladder microbiome’ discovery could change the way we treat UTIs – ABC news
Australia’s ABC news cover work by Australian researchers on the bladder microbiome. The researchers have identified a collection of bacteria living in the female bladder that exists even in the absence of infection.
This research that helps dispel the damaging myth that the human bladder is sterile. More research into the bladder microbiome will help our understanding of why some people are more likely to get UTIs, and get them again and gain, or develop chronic UTI. It will also help advance more effective treatments.
